Community Cycle Clubs in the East of England
From the seafront at Southend-on-Sea to parks, villages and coastal towns across Norfolk and Suffolk, Community Cycle Clubs in the East of England give people friendly ways to ride for health, confidence and fun.
They support women of all ages, people riding to improve their wellbeing and mixed groups who simply enjoy exploring quiet lanes and local paths together. Some clubs are open to everyone, while others are led by women from South Asian communities, helping more people see themselves reflected in cycling.
These groups offer welcoming, low-cost rides where you can go at your own pace, meet new people and discover local routes close to home.

Ian Small works with local organisations across Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk to set up and grow Community Cycle Clubs.
He supports community leaders and volunteers with practical help – from planning accessible routes and designing beginner-friendly rides, to linking clubs with funding, bikes and equipment so they can welcome more people.
From Southend and Norwich to Beccles, Debenham, Ipswich and Felixstowe, Ian partners with groups who want to use cycling to improve health, reduce isolation and strengthen community ties.
His role is to turn that local enthusiasm into friendly, sustainable clubs so more adults can enjoy regular, everyday cycling where they live.
