Liverpool City Region encouraging more people to cycle to work

Cycling UK is working in partnership with charity Living Streets and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to encourage employees to choose cycling for their commute to work

Working in partnership with charity Living Streets, and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA), Cycling UK are offering a package of activities through the Big Bike Revival programme to encourage workplaces and employees to choose active travel for their commute to work, and beyond.

Businesses in the region are hosting free events and Cycling UK are offering free training opportunities to raise awareness of the benefits of cycling and the opportunities available to them. These include:

The project also promotes Walk Champion Training for employees from charity Living Streets.

This is a fantastic opportunity for workplaces across the region to encourage employees to experience the benefits of active travel

Stewart Walsh, Cycling UK's cycling development officer for the Liverpool City Region

Nina Cara-Collins, project manager at Living Streets, spoke of the joint venture: "Living Streets is working with Cycling UK to deliver Walk Champion Training to employees across Liverpool City Region.

"Our online training provides staff with skills and knowledge to lead on promoting and advising colleagues on fitting more walking into their working day and delivering led walks.

"We believe the best way to establish and maintain healthy habits amongst staff is having Walk Champions to encourage colleagues to walk in and around the working day, whether that’s to and from the office or while working from home."

Stewart Walsh, Cycling UK's cycling development officer for the Liverpool City region is particularly excited about the project: "This is a fantastic opportunity for workplaces across the region to encourage employees to experience the benefits of active travel."
