About us

“WE RIDE, WE CONSUME COFFEE AND CAKE, WE SAY HELLO TO OTHER CYCLISTS.”

…and we don’t do snobbery or elitism.

Woking Cycling Club’s goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable cycling experience to locals in and around Woking, Surrey. We pride ourselves on our friendly and informal atmosphere whilst making sure the club and it’s members are protected through club rules and governing body practices.  We are affiliated to British Cycling, CTC and Cycling Time Trials which gives our members numerous benefits as well as supporting the continued success of cycling in the UK.

We provide weekly road rides every Sunday throughout the year, as well as offering MTB rides when interest and numbers allow.

We aim to support cyclists who want to get more from their cycling, improve their fitness and stamina, as well as coaching those wishing to race or prepare for specific epic rides!  We are currently embarking on a project to further develop our coaching qualifications in the club to provide improved support for all members young and old.

Information about the group rides

Club Runs are every Sunday throughout the year unless cancelled due to poor weather or due to any other unforeseen circumstances.

We meet at Woking Leisure Centre from 07:45 and departing at 8am.

Each Sunday will have a predetermined route, which will be published, on the private Facebook page. The appropriate ride leader will publish routes, distances and ability expectations (i.e. pace) beforehand.

Cancellations will be communicated through social media (individual members will not be contacted).

There are typically four groups (or more depending on the numbers that morning):

  • Social 1 – distance of 40+ miles
  • Social 2 – distance of 40+  miles
  • Intermediate – distance of 40+ miles
  • Fast – distance of 40+ miles

All rides include a coffee and cake stop half way with both groups “hopefully” stopping at the same time.

Please remember to bring cash as most of the coffee shops don’t accept debit or credit card payments.

We do recommend that new members join one the Social group for their first ride.
