Combining the Repair Café with the Steady Saturday Bike Ride. Just a very easy ride around Alvingham (AntiClockwise) and back to the Repair Café in Park Avenue (the old Youth Centre opposite the fish and chip shop) for a cuppa. Option to stop at Shaw's Fruit and Veg Shop to stock up on groceries.

The Repair Cafe can fix anything from electricals to coal scuttles and there’s a dedicated bike repair section run by James Pocklington, where they’ve refurbished at least 100 bicycles for people in poverty. They accept donation bikes and parts for the “Wheels for Life” charity. In conjunction with the Repair Café charity, members of the public can also take advantage of repairs and parts for a small donation. Grab a coffee and get you're bike checked over for free. Typical jobs for example a badly worn cassette and chain(See photos) that need replacement. The chain in the picture had done 2000 miles and cassette probably 3 to 4000 miles going through at least 1 winter. The chain was very lazy changing both up and down the gears, it had no lateral stiffness. A new chain was tried first but it was very apparent the 5th gear skipped badly. The cassette had to be replaced. We keep a good selection of new parts for sale or we can advise you where to buy the parts you need. Come back next month and get them fitted....
