Caren Hartley is part of Cycling UK's 100 Women in Cycling 2018 list for her honed skill in framebuilding for her own business.

Caren Hartley is the founder of Hartley Cycles, an award-winning bespoke bicycle company in South London. Caren has a flair for working with metal; she first trained as a jeweller and silversmith, and then worked in a variety of metalwork disciplines including sculpture and large scale public art. Building bicycles was a natural progression, combining her skills, creativity and experience with her love of cycling.

For Hartley Cycles, Caren uses steel and stainless steel to create beautiful bespoke bicycles unique to each client.

For Caren, the best part of her job is, “Working with lots of different types of people and translating their hopes and needs for a bike into reality.”

Cycling UK’s 100 Women in Cycling is an annual list celebrating inspirational women who are encouraging others to take part in this wonderful and life-enhancing activity.
