Gentle ride round Whitby
Event description
A gentle ride round Whitby. We start and finish in Sandsend - just outside Whitby. The ride is 14 miles and aimed at people with some experience of cycling or who haven't ridden for a couple of years but would like to restart. It will also appeal to cyclists interested in cycling round a historic town. This is not a standard club run with lots of stops included and a lunch break in the centre of Whitby.
Our local guide will be Gale Hodgson, a former Ride Leader who was brought up in Whitby.
Average speed on preide was 8 mph. 1034 ft gain and 1029 ft loss. There are a couple of steep descents and some on busy road riding. So you will need to be comfortable doing this kind of riding.
Start: 10.30 am outside the Sandside cafe at Sandsend. We will be in the cafe from 10 am
There is no charge and you are welcome to leave the ride anytime.
Trains
We haven't been able to co-ordinate with Northern Rail or N York Moors services into Whitby in the morning. The centre of Whitby can become very crowded so we need to plan an early lunch break.
PLEASE LET US KNOW BY MONDAY 12TH JUNE IF YOU ARE COMING SO WE KNOW TO EXPECT YOU
Car parking: East Row YO 21 3SY. To be on safe side allow 6hrs parking if you are coming with us and returning to Sandsend. Contactless payment only.
