How to register your ride leaders and other group officials

To ensure your ride leaders, and other group officials, are fully covered by Cycling UK's organiser's liability insurance, we recommend you register their names with us

Affiliate groups

All paid-up Cycling UK affiliated groups and clubs are provided with Organisers’ Liability cover for up to £10 million. This policy will cover your club officials, ride leaders, event organisers and other volunteers against any claims made against them as a result of their negligence whilst carrying out their volunteer roles.

When you join or renew your group membership, we'll ask you to submit a list of the volunteers you wish to be covered for the current insurance period. Everyone you have registered will be covered up until your next renewal date. You can register new individuals to be covered by the insurance at any time.

Member groups

Volunteers for Cycling UK member groups are also automatically provided with the same cover for no extra cost but they should still register their volunteers with us. The cover includes volunteers who are organising rides/events such as club rides, sportives, reliability events, Audax events, and involved in record-breaking but excludes any form of competitive cycling, such as time trials or mass start races. (Note that the participants themselves are only covered if they have individual membership of Cycling UK.)

Registering volunteers

Registering volunteers is quick and easy, just email us the full name of any volunteers to be registered including your group name or membership number in the subject line.

If you're registering volunteers for a Cycling UK member group, please also include the volunteer's Cycling UK membership number.

If you have to register more than ten volunteers at a time, please follow the instructions below.

Registering volunteers in bulk using the volunteer registration form

If your group has just joined or renewed its membership of Cycling UK OR has more than ten volunteers to register, you can use the volunteer registration form at the bottom of this page.
Please fill out the form and email it to us.
As volunteers only remain registered until your next renewal date, you'll need to complete this form and return it to us each year when you renew.
It's a good idea to save a copy of the form before you send it to us, so you don't have to start from scratch next year.
