You said, we’re doing

At Cycling UK, we’re committed to listening to our members and acting on what matters most to you

Earlier this year, we gathered feedback through our groups’ annual survey and conversations with local groups. You spoke up - and we are underway with work to address these points. Here’s what you told us, and the steps we’re taking to make a difference.

Local member lists are out of date
(Member Groups)
We’ve developed a working prototype of a new member lookup tool to replace the outdated local lists. This will give group volunteers quicker access to accurate and up-to-date member information. We’re aiming to launch this to all member groups this Autumn and will keep you updated on its rollout.
Help us promote our events
(All Groups)

We’ve introduced a new Community section in Cycle magazine to spotlight group events and raise the profile of your public activities. To be featured, send your event details to the membership team at [email protected] by the 15th of the month, two calendar months ahead of the cover date.

You can also list your events on your group’s publicity page. Every event added there will automatically appear on our main event listing page on the Cycling UK website, helping boost visibility and attendance.

We need more support from Cycling UK
(All Groups)

This year, we’ve had the pleasure of attending eight member group AGMs, the 104th Cyclists’ Memorial Service organised by CTC Coventry, and Newbury’s centenary celebrations.

We’re committed to support more events so please share your upcoming activities with us: [email protected]. If we’re able, we’ll send a Cycling UK representative to join and support your group.

Email functionality isn’t effective
(Member Groups)

We recognise the importance of reaching members in your group’s postcode area. We’re actively developing a solution to improve email functionality, making it easier for you to connect with both new and existing members. We'll update you in the next groups newsletter.

It is hard to recruit new group committee volunteers
(Member Groups)

We’re reviewing your feedback on administrative processes and working to simplify tasks. Our aim is to reduce the workload on volunteers and make committee roles more accessible, manageable and appealing to new recruits. We are also open to members sharing committee roles.

Our group feels disconnected from Cycling UK
(All Groups)

We’re improving our communication with Cycling UK groups through new quarterly email newsletters

We’re also developing a long-term engagement plan to strengthen relationships and ensure groups feel supported and connected to Cycling UK.

We struggle to recruit new ride leaders
(Member Groups)

Ride leaders don’t need formal qualifications — we simply ask that they’re competent cyclists. We offer a free online ride leader course for all member group ride leaders, ideal for building confidence and skills in new leaders or refreshing knowledge for existing ones. Contact us at [email protected] to book your ride leaders onto the course.

Looking Ahead

We’re grateful for your continued support and feedback - it’s helping us shape a stronger, more connected Cycling UK community. These actions are just the beginning. We’ll continue to listen, learn, and improve, together. If you have more ideas or concerns, please reach out to us at [email protected].
