Icon Underpass - New temporary lighting installed
New temporary motion sensitive lighting
On Sunday 7th December, volunteers from Cycling UK Stevenage Campaigns, took a Christmas tree to the Icon underpass.
As we waited in the underpass, many passers by stopped to talk to us - this is clearly an issue of great concern to local residents. People shared their own concerns, told us about reports that they had made and spoke of a general frustration that nothing has been done. Find out more about what they said here
The following day, we wrote to Hill along with councillors from both Hertfordshire Borough Council and Stevenage Borough Council.
The request from Cycling UK Stevenage and local residents alike was simply:
"Please could everyone work together for a solution?"
We received emails back from Hill and the Leaders of both HCC and SBC along with portfolio holders and local councillors.
- Hill installed temporary motion sensitive lighting just before Christmas - watch a video of it in action here
- A January meeting on site for council officers, councillors and representatives from Cycling UK Stevenage is now being organised.
We will continue to campaign for a permanent solution with either Hill or HCC formally adopting the underpass structure.
