HCC Elections 2025 - Question 2 Responses
Question 2
Throughout Stevenage, there are cycle paths and links with barriers and bollards that make it harder to use the routes, and for some people using some cycles or mobility aids, they prevent access altogether. In many cases, their removal would be straightforward and inexpensive.
What will you do to ensure the Stevenage network is fully accessible?

The first stage is to identify where improvements can be made. So we would want to work with partners including Cycling UK Stevenage, local cycling groups, resident associations and disability advocates to ensure we can identify those pieces of infrastructure that simply don't help or are actually barriers for people. Once we have that information we can work with Highways and SBC, and campaign to ensure we get them changed.
