HCC Elections 2025 - response from TUSC

The following statement was received from TUSC in response to all questions asked,

Our party is in favour of spending more money on cycling facilities in Stevenage. This would mean upgrading the existing network to provide better lighting etc and overall making the network safer for users. We are also in favour of providing a much cheaper and more  frequent bus service.  

However successive governments since 2010  have reduced funding to local government. Rather than defy the government, most local authorities  have intead prioritised their spending commitments and made cuts to certain services.

 In the case in stevenage most of the cycle network was planned during the building of the new town using goverment money. Now most new private housing developments are built with little or no facilities for cyclists. We urgently need more social housing and cycleways funded by the government.
