1. Our Club’s Terms and Conditions

Let’s have fun… Safely!

A safe group ride is the best way to enjoy the "Bimble" philosophy. To ensure the wellbeing of all members and maintain our supportive community, we ask that you adhere to these terms at all times.

1. YOU – The Rider
Personal Responsibility: You are always riding at your own risk. Bitton and Oldland CC, its committee, and fellow members cannot be held responsible for injuries or damages occurring during club activities.
Insurance: To protect yourself and the community, we strongly advise all members to maintain third-party cycling insurance (e.g., through Cycling UK membership) to cover liability and accidents.
Health & Fitness: Ensure you are fit to ride. If you feel unwell, stop and inform a fellow rider immediately. We prioritize wellbeing over completion; there is no shame in heading home early.

2. Our Non-Discrimination & Inclusion Policy
As an inclusive club, we welcome everyone regardless of skill level, background, or equipment.
* Zero Tolerance: We have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind.
* The "Bimble" Ethos: We prioritize friendship and social connection. Competitive behavior that excludes or intimidates others is contrary to our values and may result in membership termination.

3. The Rules of the Bimble
* The No-Drop Policy: This is our most fundamental rule. No rider is ever left behind. The group waits at checkpoints, and the pace is set by the slowest rider.
* Social Focus: The cafe stop is a central part of our rides. We ride to chat, explore, and build community—not to chase Strava segments.
* Strength in Numbers: We ride as a collective to help every member feel secure on the road.

4. Safety & Equipment
* Helmets & Bells: It is compulsory to wear a well-fitting crash helmet. All members must also carry a bicycle bell to communicate respectfully with other path and road users.
* Visibility: We encourage bright, comfortable clothing that ensures you can be seen.
* Bike Maintenance: Ensure your bicycle is in safe working order. A "slow-paced" ride still requires functional brakes and tires.

5. On the Road (Etiquette)
* Be Nice
* Communication: Use compact hand signals and shout "HOLE," "CAR BACK," or "CAR UP" to alert the group.
* Group Size: Ride Leaders determine group sizes (ideally under 10) to ensure we are respectful to other road users.
* Single File: Move to single file promptly when traffic approaches from behind or when the road is narrow.
* Respect: Never make rude gestures or engage in arguments with motorists. As a campaigning club, we lead by example to promote mutual respect on the road.

6. Campaigning & Advocacy
By joining Bitton and Oldland CC, you support our mission for safer infrastructure. We advocate for the "8 to 80" rule: roads should be safe enough for an 8-year-old and an 80-year-old. While we encourage activism, all campaigning activities must remain peaceful and respectful.

7. Under 18s
Anyone aged under 18 must have a signed Parental Consent form. We are a family-friendly club and believe cycling strengthens family bonds; however, the safety of minors remains the responsibility of their parent or guardian during rides.

8. Dealing with Accidents
* Safety First: Protect the scene and oncoming traffic.
* Care: Do not move an injured person unless necessary. Reassure them while waiting for shock to pass.
* Support: Call for professional medical help if there is any doubt.
* Documentation: If a vehicle is involved, record the registration and take photos of the scene for insurance/legal purposes.

By participating in Bitton and Oldland CC activities, you agree to uphold these values of friendship, safety, and inclusivity.

Now, let's go for a bimble!
