Weekly Bike Kitchen
Event description
We open every* Saturday at 11AM, after the Guided Ride's left.
Got a flat tyre, sluggish brakes, sticky gears, rattly mudguards, a wonky saddle etc.? Then we're here to help.
Our volunteers safety-check, fix and adjust the most common issues with bikes.
We want bikes out of garages and back onto the roads/trails where they belong.
Come in a week or so before your first Guided Ride to make sure your bike's up to it, and you don't break down midway round. Our tight weekly schedule means that you won't be able to do the ride and have your bike checked on the same day.
Booking is required, and pre-booking highly recommended. You can do it on the day with your smartphone, but it's better to book in advance - we get VERY busy and prioritse those we're expecting. Our crew need to know how many bikes to expect and staff-up accordingly.
NB This is a service for the Windsor community. We welcome visitors to our town and hub, we'll always help with a puncture or an emergency repair to help get you home again, but please appreciate our community role.
We'll show you what we're doing while we work, to help you fix your own bike next time.
We're not a shop, we work with what we have – most common problems can be fixed with tools. We've plenty of donated parts, and sometimes use those. We'll use new brake pads, cables and inner tubes when needed.
We might send you off with a shopping list for new parts (typically tyres), we'll fit those if you bring them in.
If anything's really serious, and you need a full service, we'll recommend our local bike shops: https://thebikecompany.co.uk/home
& https://samsbikeshop.co.uk**
(**that's Sam ex-Stowes on Dedworth Rd).
We don't charge for our time or donated parts, but as a charity we appreciate donations - if you can manage one. We'd also love it if you left a Google Review, and helped spread the word.
