Brighton, Lewes, Hassocks and Shoreham with options for a shorter ride
Event description
On Sunday 8th February, we're meeting at the Rotunda Café, Preston Park, Brighton, BN1 6HN at 09.45 for coffee, ready for a 10.00 departure.
We'll head along the coast to Ovingdean and then up to Woodingdean via the excellent cycle path (big hill). Then from Woodingdean to Falmer past the Amex stadium on the link cycle path, then turn right and go along the cycle path to Lewes.
We'll turn left at Lewes prison, then up and over the hill to Offham, Hamsey and then to Hassocks via Cooksbridge and Streat Lane.
We'll have lunch at the welcoming Green Folk Kitchen in Hassocks.
If you prefer, bring your own packed lunch and find a spot to have it.
Anyone who wants a shorter ride can cut it short before/after lunch, taking the train (if they're running) or use the cycle path next to the A23 picking up route NCN20 direct to Brighton.
The ride will continue to Shoreham via Hurstpierpoint, Blackstone, Fulking, Bramber and Coombes.
Depending how we feel we can then have a coffee in Shoreham, Portslade or Brighton.
Please note: All our rides are weather-dependent. If the weather is too bad, a ride will be cancelled.
If possible, please contact the ride leader (organiser) by email at the link on this page if you would like to join us, especially if you plan to eat at the café. Otherwise please come to the ride starting point and speak to the ride leader.
If you plan to come on any of our rides, please make sure your cycle is in a roadworthy condition. Bring a puncture repair kit, spare inner tube (or as appropriate for tubeless tyres), essential tools, a mobile phone if you have one, snacks and enough to drink, sunscreen/waterproofs/warm clothing as appropriate. Please follow Cycling UK guidance and the Highway Code. Check with the ride leader about the distance and hilliness of the ride if you are unsure. See contact details below.
There is a simple signing on process at the beginning of the ride. Please inform the ride leader if you have a medical condition that might affect your ride.
