Rebecca Bennett

Grassroots campaigner changing Yate for the better

Rebecca founded the Yate Community Bike Hub after recognising a lack of cycling support in her area – especially for those on low incomes. Her vision was to create an inclusive space where cycling could be accessible to everyone, regardless of background or experience.

Over the past three years, the Hub has transformed the local cycling landscape, with 2,000 bikes donated and refurbished, over 100 local people taught cycle maintenance, 50 bikes donated to Ukrainian refugees and free bike lessons for people to learn to ride.

Rebecca also recently launched Women on Wheels, a supportive initiative that brings women together through cycling. It provides a safe and welcoming environment for women to build confidence and community on bikes.

Rebecca’s work is a shining example of how grassroots initiatives can make a lasting impact. Her passion, leadership, and dedication to making cycling accessible is truly commendable.
