Mariam Ahmed
Community champion
Mariam caught the cycling bug three years ago when she joined Cycle Sisters as a beginner. Since then, she's become both a ride leader and an instructor. She's completed the London to Amsterdam ride twice, which inspired her to train as a mechanic so that her group could be self-sufficient on women only bikepacking trips. More recently, she took on the challenge of riding from Paris to Geneva, conquering mountain climbs along the way.
Cycling has transformed Mariam’s life, giving her confidence, strength and resilience. She finds happiness in giving back to her community what cycling has given her. Mariam approaches the women she teaches and leads with empathy and support, helping each to leave feeling uplifted, empowered and knowing they can achieve anything because they truly can. On her rides, she often encourages participants to repeat her mantra, “I love hills,” as a way to reframe challenges and embrace both climbs and hardships alike, while keeping things fun and light hearted even when the hills get heavy!
Cycling has even influenced Mariam’s background in fashion design, inspiring her to create custom pieces for her cycling community. She hopes to take on even bigger challenges in the future, and through every ride, her mission remains the same: to uplift, empower and build a strong, inclusive community of women cyclists.
