Kathy Gilchrist
From velodrome manager to Scottish Cycling president
Kathy’s cycling journey includes a clutch of significant ‘firsts’. In the United States, she was the first woman to manage a velodrome; she was also a founding member of the National Collegiate Cycling Association, helping to launch collegiate cycling in the country. After moving to Scotland, she was the first woman to chair the board at Scottish Cycling; she went on to become the first female president. She now serves as a founding trustee of the Scottish Cycling Foundation.
“Kathy’s been opening doors for women in cycling for decades. She’s a mentor, a pioneer and the living proof that passion plus persistence can shift culture.”
