Paris to Hayling charity rides got Joy Forrow back on her bike, and after retiring in 2011 she joined Portsmouth CTC and quickly became a driving force in the club.
She learned to plan and lead rides, arranged fortnightly social evenings with inspirational speakers and, as vice president and then president, helped reinvent club riding during the pandemic.
As ride secretary she now leads many of nearly 400 rides a year, including tours for all ages and abilities, and is again vice president as the club approaches its centenary.
