Jesse Handler

Ride leader and organiser with JoyRiders & cycling researcher

With a keen passion for spreading the joy and freedom that comes from urban cycling, Jesse organises and leads supportive and inclusive rides with JoyRiders. She has helped more women gain confidence cycling in cities and through her academic research at UCL, Jesse has explored the positive impact these rides can have on helping people overcome experiential, cultural, and social barriers to cycling.

Jesse now works as a transport planner for local government, delivering inclusive cycling infrastructure and supports.

It’s my hope that cycling alongside the wonderfully diverse women of JoyRiders, especially throughout my pregnancy this year, helps normalise cycling for people of all backgrounds and at all stages of life, inspiring more people to give it a try.”
