After returning to cycling for a 1999 charity ride in Israel, retired Alton rider Janet Haynes found her true calling with Hearty Riders, a group born from a Cardiac Rehab Centre email in 2016.
Taking on the admin and then the ride leadership, she now leads weekly rides of up to 20 retired riders in all weathers, focusing on fitness, friendship and mental wellbeing with regular café stops.
During Covid she created a “one plus one” system so no one had to ride alone.
All we ask is that people have a serviceable bike and a helmet
