Jane Carlton Smith

Ride leader with Isis Cyclists and JoyRiders Oxford

Jane cycled as a child and while working in London in the 1970s. She started cycling for leisure when she was 60, joining Isis Cyclists in Oxford. She subsequently trained to be a ride leader. In 2021, she used her experience with Isis to help set up the Oxford branch of JoyRiders, a community interest company that aims to empower women by introducing them to the joys of cycling. She is dedicated to supporting and encouraging more women to cycle in Oxford.

“It’s not just the companionship, it’s fresh air, exercise and the feeling of happiness that cycling gives me. It changed my life.”
