Demi is a Dutch professional racing cyclist and the overall winner of the Tour de France de Femmes 2023. She joined a cycling club and started competing at the age of 16. She originally trained as a florist but gradually started focusing more and more on her sport until finally going professional in 2018. She currently races for Team SD Worx.

In 2021 she won the Liège–Bastogne–Liège Femmes, her first win in a monument classic. In 2023, she won all three Ardennes classics; the Amstel Gold Race, La Flèche Wallonne Féminine and Liège–Bastogne–Liège Femmes.
