Deb Weston
Founder, ride leader and organiser of Hopwood Ladies Cycling Club and Longbridge Cycling Club.
Having initially started cycling distances with her late father, Deb founded Hopwood Ladies Cycling Club after his passing. After a kidney cancer diagnosis, and receiving the all-clear, she launched Longbridge Cycle Club, offering slower paced rides.
Deb now organises regular group day rides and longer trips for small groups. She inspires everyone to get out and is welcoming to everyone who wants to join. She has been leading rides for 20 years, knows every route, mostly without a map and her rides continue all year round. If it is too icy or snowy to ride, she will organise a walk.
“Since I started the cycling club 20 years ago, we have evolved, sharing memories with many wonderful people, their families, and more recently their dogs. I've seen benefits to people's confidence, self-esteem, self-belief and of course fitness. I’ve also built lifelong friendships and a solid support network that extends far beyond being on my bike.”
