Clarrie Ramsden has turned her belief that cycling is for everyone into the Seacroft Cycles Active Travel Hub project in Leeds. In just a year this volunteer-led community project has taken off, refurbishing unwanted bikes, and rehoming them at a very low cost: making cycling affordable for local families.
The hub focuses on building skills and self-belief, offering free adult cycling lessons, maintenance classes, a ‘blokes’ group, and supportive club rides. Clarrie has created a welcoming, social space through tireless promotion and community-building energy.
“Clarrie had an idea to get people cycling. From this has grown a travel hub for all ages where not only can you learn to ride but how to maintain bikes.”
