Meet your local Cycling Development Officer
Mikey Cottle is your local Cycling Development Officer (CDO) for Nottinghamshire. He works with grassroots groups, volunteers and community partners to deliver inclusive cycling activities that break down barriers and bring people together.
Mikey helps run Big Bike Revival events across the county – including bike servicing, learn-to-ride lessons, confidence-boosting rides and more.
Whether you’re taking your first pedal strokes or coming back to cycling after a break, Mikey is here to help you get moving – and enjoy the ride.
Hello! I’m Mikey, and I love cycling in Nottinghamshire – a county full of welcoming places to ride and great people to ride with.
Nottinghamshire has so much to offer – from peaceful country lanes and riverside routes to traffic-free paths through parks and green spaces. It’s a great place to explore by cycle, whether you’re on two wheels, three, or use an adaptive cycle that suits your needs. There’s something for everyone here.
The Big Bike Revival helps remove the barriers that stop people from cycling – whether that’s not knowing where to ride, not having a cycle or just needing a bit more confidence. Many of our events offer learn-to-ride sessions, route discovery rides and cycle loans or checks, so you can enjoy the experience knowing you’re supported.
I’ve seen first hand how quickly people grow in confidence and find joy through cycling. It’s not just about transport or fitness – it’s about connection, freedom and having fun.
These events are friendly, inclusive and genuinely uplifting. You’ll discover parts of Nottinghamshire you didn’t know, meet new people and maybe even surprise yourself with what you can do – and yes, there’s often tea and cake along the way!
So whether you’re completely new to cycling or looking to get back into it in a way that works for you, come along. However you ride, you’ll be welcomed.

From social rides and learn-to-ride support, to practical bike maintenance sessions, their events are designed to help women feel confident and welcome – whatever their starting point.
Managing Director Lily Beaven says:
From childhood, women are told they don’t fix things – but we’re changing that. Our sessions show there is a place for women in cycling. As part of the Big Bike Revival, WIT has helped hundreds of women in Nottinghamshire overcome barriers, build new skills and enjoy the freedom cycling can bring
