Sofa to Saddle - Runner-up

Sofa to Saddle, in West Malling, Kent, is a club that dedicates itself to building up the confidence of beginner or novice riders.

The group wants everyone to have the opportunity to feel confident and happy while cycling but being dedicated to creating a safe space and easy rides for new riders is an unusual focus for a cycling group. Sofa to Saddle is doesn't take its aim lightly! Experienced ride leaders are always on hand to make sure riders never feel like they’re the last one home – and rides are completely free. There is also no age limit (under eighteens much be accompanied by an adult). 

Cycling UK is very pleased to recognise Sofa to Saddle's focus on supporting new cyclists. 

Cycling UK's Volunteer of the Year Awards are given annually to recognise and celebrate all the incredible work volunteers do in encouraging others to start cycling and keep cycling.
