Xcalibre off-road - EVENT POSTPONED until 2015

Xcalibre - is it the toughest MTB race ever?
CTC is pleased to announce our partnership with Xcalibre, Britain’s first ever televised off-road tour, which runs 16-23 August 2014 across seven stages and three venues. Unfortunately this event has been POSTPONED until 2015 - keep an eye on the the Xcalibre website for more details.

The Xcalibre 500 two-person team event tests riders across a range of terrain and all MTB disciplines – cross-country, Enduro and marathon, with teams winning points along the way as much for one’s own satisfaction as for one of the race leaders jerseys for women’s teams, mixed teams, the over 80s (combined age that is!) and, of course, the yellow jerseys of the overall leaders. ITV4 will be catching the action on every stage.

The first stages are held at the National Trust Stackpole Estate in Pembrokeshire with a prologue, gruelling night ride relay race and cliff top single track marathon race. Then it’s on to Bike Park Wales for the downhill disciplines before heading off to the Brecon Beacons for the tour’s 40km stage over SAS training grounds.

Being involved in Xcalibre takes us back to our CTC roots and is a perfect complement to our MTB skills training, bike parks and MTB trail building

Finally, the Tour will decamp for Exmoor on Devon's north coast, where Porlock hosts the Grand Finale weekend.

The event is as much about the camaraderie as the racing, with food and evening entertainment at the group campsite where MTB warriors can swap tales of trails. The all-inclusive eight day team package is £900 per person.

Look out for a review of the routes in next issue of 'Cycle'. Are you tough enough for Xcalibre?.
