Midsummer Cycling for ALL

Midsummer Cycling for ALL on the new Gresley Way cycleway - photo by Loyd Davies

Around 50 cyclists enjoyed perfect weather for our Midsummer Cycling for ALL - A 4 mile Celebration Ride on Sunday 22nd June.

Our route was entirely traffic-free - including the brand new Gresley Way cycleway linking Fairlands Way and Six Hills Way. On return to Fairlands, the cyclists of all ages enjoyed ice-creams and picnic time.

A big thank you to our fabulous marshalling team who helped guide us safely and to Loyd our photographer who took lots of photos as shown in the gallery below.

Click here to see a video from Rosie aka Cyclist Next Door who we welcomed to Stevenage for the afternoon.

We were grateful to Mark from invis-Ability who made the video we shared in advance to help see the 4 mile route. This was filmed from an adapted wheelchair to showing the route was accessible for adapted cycles. Several participants including parents bringing young children in child seats told us they had watched the video and found it very useful.

Young riders from Fairlands Cycling Club test rode the route a month early to check suitability for children too. Many club members came along on the ride - and brought Mums, Dads and grandparents too.

We are fortunate to have so much segregated infrastructure in Stevenage - which really enables Cycling for ALL.

Look out for the Two Teddies' next day out - they were chatting to each other about going to a picnic in Hampson Park in the summer holidays!
