Louth to Saltfleetby 2/5/26
Riding out from the Meridian Leisure Centre today: Ty, Tim, Sue, Chris, Martin and James.
The weather was glorious as we headed off down Eastfield Road and across the canal via Ticklepenny Lock. We continued through North Cockerington and turned down Red Leas, crossing the North Somercotes Main Road into Howdales.
We emerged at the corner of St Peter’s in Saltfleetby, where we stopped at The Little Village Shop. The Little Village Tea Shop was originally the local primary school, which closed in 2016 after providing education for 165 years. One of our members, James, had spent his childhood in Saltfleetby and had the chance to chat with the new owners of his childhood home, as well as return back to school for the first time since 1963 — a real trip down memory lane.
The group enjoyed a cornucopia of bacon buns, toasted teacakes, cake and coffee. Struggling to remount the bikes after so much to eat, we set off on a leisurely ride along Three Bridges through Great and Little Carlton. We chose the back road through Manby and Grimboldby, heading straight back to the Meridian, arriving at 12 pm.
