Louth to North Thoresby 28th December 2025

Group of people riding

Cyclists today started from the Meridian Centre, Louth, on the Betwixmas North Thoresby ride: John Ricket, Paul Linder(ridden in from Alford), and Ty Harness.

It was a late start today at 11:00 am to fit in with the shortened North Thoresby Village Community Café opening hours. The group was waved off by club captain Tim Newbury, who was keen to go walking out towards Tealby.

The group headed out along Brackenborough Road and inadvertently found themselves in an organised cycling time trial but soon got off the race course by ascending the North Elkington Lane and following the road to Wold Newton. Before reaching Wold Newton, we turned right towards the very scenic Beesby.  Despite an initial climb its a thrilling high speed decent through Beesby right down to North Thorseby.

The group arrived at the café around 12:30 pm and enjoyed soup, baked potatoes, a scone and a banana flavoured flapjack.

The group fully refreshed headed back to Louth via Fulstow and the Covenhams. John split off back to Fotherby, while Ty and Paul extended the ride through Manby and Carlton. Paul continued home to Alford, and Ty rode in to the Wolds to visit family at Walmsgate.

It was a cold day, but dry with plenty of cyclists out there.
