First Residents Panel Meeting - August 2025
On Sunday 24th August, we brought local residents together for the very first Cycling UK Stevenage Campaigns Residents’ Panel.
It was inspiring to hear people share their everyday cycling experiences, maps of the routes they use, and the barriers they face in getting around our town by bike. From missing North-South routes and steep hills to unlit paths and busy streets, we gathered a wealth of insight on what makes cycling easier – and what gets in the way.
The Tesco bridge and carpark, the Old Town High Street and St George's Way were discussed in detail as key barriers for people cycling. Just as importantly, we heard positive stories about where things work well - for example the new North Road cycleway.
Thank you to everyone who took part.
Your voices are shaping our campaign for safer, more accessible and connected cycling in Stevenage. This is just the beginning – we’ll be using these findings to push for change that benefits the whole community.
