Cycling UK Louth Boxing Day Ride 2025

Group of people riding

Fresh air was required after what might have been for some a bit of indulgence with yesterday's Christmas Meal.

The weather, although cold and with a slight ground frost early in the morning, looked fine with clear blue skies and unbroken winter sunshine. Meeting up at the Leisure Centre in Louth were John Rickett, Paul Linder, Ty Harness and Tim Newbery.

Heading out via Brackeborough there were several sightings of Buzzard with their familiar call being carried some distance on the easterly breeze. We saw several cyclists also enjoying this crisp Boxing Day along with a number of joggers.

Before long we had arrived in Fotherby and were warmly welcomed by Jen leading us to a table laden with tasty morsels including salmon, sausage rolls, mince pies, Christmas cake and cheese. Hot drinks went down well too over discussions ranging from horticulture to cookery. Our hosts John and Jen looked after us very well. Many thanks.

Ty and Paul left Tim to head back to Louth at Alvingham and they'd go on to clock up well in excess of 40 miles.

Next Wednesday, Ty's leading a mid week 'Wander' to Mablethorpe.
