More about our group

All women are welcome.

We are now a well-established club group, having formed as part of the Cycling UK 'Five Miles to Fabulous' initiative in 2007.  The aim of the initiative is to provide easy-paced rides to help build confidence and to introduce riders to the many cycling routes around the local area.

We operate a booking system, this is to ensure that the group is of manageable size on the road and at the cafe.  The system originated during Covid and has been so helpful that we continue to use it.

Experienced riders are very welcome, as the pace is gentle you should bring extra layers.

Things to bring on a ride: sensible clothing, a lock and money / card for the cafe, suncream / waterproofs, a spare inner tube.

Things to check before the ride: bike is functioning and tyres are pumped up.  A really good video from Sustrans shows you the M-check, a systematic way to look over your cycle to make sure it is safe and efficient.  Also check that the spare inner tube is the correct size for your tyres and is not itself punctured!

If driving to the start, do not park in Morrisons car park as there is a time limit and we are unlikely to be back before the limit is reached.
