Heavy Metal Cycling Club

It isn't the music, it's the attitude. We're a friendly, social cycling club inspired by a million pound kids charity. We have chapters in London, Sussex and Essex and friends and supporters from around the world.

About us

Okay, first things first: it isn't about the music you listen to -- it's the attitude. HMCC is a friendly, social club that cycles. Our abilities and our steeds may vary just like our tastes in music, but our commitment to sharing our love of joyful aches and the open road does not. We love gentle pootles and the occasional monster ride as long as it's fun, but to us it's about smiles over miles and nothing makes us happier than to support cyclists as they develop and grow just as we have.

The HMCC was originally founded in London in 2014 as a way of keeping legendary charity cycling group the Heavy Metal Truants together year round. In the spirit of the Heavy Metal Truants, who have raised over a million pounds for kids charities, we invite heavy metal cyclists from around the world to connect with us.

Our founding London chapter runs two types of rides mainly: Neon Knights -- a casual, evening city spin usually ending at a pub, and longer monthly club rides departing North, South, East or West London on a rotating basis. We also have a very active Sussex chapter who love hills and gravel, and a more recently added Essex chapter who greatly benefit from the lovely countryside out that way.

Come along and we'll add you to our Whatsapp so you can find out more. Find us on instagram, join the club on Strava, help yourself to our merch, and if you're local then join us for one of our rides. Keep coming, and you'll even get a codename.
