Joining In
If you would like to ride with the bike bus, just meet us at the most convenient point for you on the route!

If you are interested in taking part as a marshal, please get in touch. The more volunteers we have, the more often we can run the Bike Bus.

Information about the group rides

A bike bus is a group ride to school along a pre-planned route. Parents/carers and children can either join the ride at the start point or “hop on the bus” when it passes close to their homes, just like a normal journey to school. Competent young cyclists are welcome to ride with the Bike Bus independently, without a parent or carer, provided they are confident and happy to do so.

Our group is led by experienced cyclists, moves at a slow, controlled speed, occupies the full width of the lane on each road it uses, and turns are protected by ride leaders controlling traffic. As such, it is very visible and has a lot of road presence.

It is a very safe experience – bike buses are suitable for everyone from toddlers on balance bikes to adults who don’t cycle much, and everyone in between.

We are very grateful to the Davidson’s Mains Primary School Parent Council, the Parent Staff Association, and all our volunteers for their continued support of the Bike Bus.
