Birmingham Push Bikes

Welcome to Push Bikes the long standing Birmingham Cycle Campaign Group. We work with allies like Better Streets for Birmingham to encourage and scrutinise the transport and active travel policies of Birmingham City Council and the West Midlands Combined Authority. We have about 120 members and a very active Campaigns Committee which meets monthly on line. You are very welcome to join us if you support active travel - cycling wheeling and walking. Details are on our website below.

About us

The Committee discusses current issues and produces well informed responses to the many consultations involved in the long road to creating a network of safe walking, wheeling and cycling routes in the City. Also most of us ride bikes and some of us think of ourselves as "cyclists" we seek to build a wider constituency of people willing to engage in creating better and safer streets and a proper cycling and wheeling network. We have recently set up a new charity Walk Cycle Play to reflect this broader vision and will seek to work behind the scenes  to fund raise and use our existing resources to invest in new initiatives and projects. For example we have agree to fund the first year of a project which will build on the success of Bike Buses to School by creating social groups sharing an interest in family cycling. The idea is to have short led park rides including balance bikes, share expertise, ideas and perhaps equipment like tagalongs, child seats, cargo bikes. In future we will look to support initiatives around wheeling and mobility scooter users who have their own campaigning needs.

With have supported Better Streets for Birmingham in producing a manifesto of 10 "Asks" for the 2026 local elections to ensure that candidates address what we see as the Road Safety Emergency in the City.
