About us

We are a club based in Aylesbury, Bucks that runs a range of led adult cycle rides catering for a wide range of ability and interest. We believe that cycling is for all and welcome any new riders, whether you just want to try a short leisure ride, or prefer something more challenging.

Our Sunday Rides

(Newcomer and Easy Pace/Plus are leisure rides and normally start at 9:30 a.m. Step up and moderate may start earlier, check the rides list. All rides are circular and return to the start.)

Newcomers is a shorter leisure ride of 15 to 20 miles at a nice easy pace of 8 to 10 miles an hour. It is the best group to start with.

Easy Pace is a longer ride of about 30 miles and around 10 to 11 miles an hour.  This group is for regular riders who would like to do a bit more but still want the leisure approach.

Easy Plus take place alongside the Newcomers ride, starting at the same time and place. It gives a choice of rides on the Newcomers day and suits those who would like the opportunity to push themselves a bit more. So a little faster than Easy Pace are 30to 35 miles at about 10 to 12 mph.

Step up is longer and faster for riders who want more of a challenge. Step Ups are 35 to 50 miles at 12 to 14 miles an hour.

Moderate is our fast group for more energetic riders and can be around 50 or more miles at 14+ miles an hour.

For our rides click on the Newcomer / Easy Pace rides tab or on the link below for the full club list which includes our faster rides.

Here is the full Rides List.

Group riding is a great way of exploring the lovely Bucks countryside, keeping fit and meeting like-minded people. Rides are social and there’s always a coffee stop half way! It’s also a safe way to ride with experienced leaders,so nobody gets left behind and somebody will be able to help fix a puncture or help with any problems.

For Newcomers any serviceable bike will do. Bring a spare tube, a drink, suitable clothing including a waterproof and money for tea!

For Easy Pace and other groups, a bike with a good range of gears is recommended. A helmet is a good idea but not compulsory. Electric bikes are welcome on the Newcomer and Easy rides.

If you like cycling with us, after a three rides we ask that you join Cycling UK our ‘parent body’ which gives you insurance cover, a regular magazine with great articles and information and champions cycling in the UK. Membership is about £4.00 a month or £48.00 annually,

Social:

We have an Aylesbury Cycling UK Facebook group  where you can see what we get up to, keep in touch with others, ask questions or share news and information.  As ours is a closed group, click on the 'Join Group'  button when you first visit our page. Anyone local and interested in cycling is welcome to join our Facebook page and it is a good way of learning about our group!

Every second Wednesday of the month is our  Social Night   at the Kings Head, Market Square, Aylesbury at  7.30 p.m. (Come and meet us in person!!)

Other Bits!

Some of us also ride with the South Bucks CTC which like us is part of Cycling UK. They have rides on Wednesdays and Coffee Pot meets on Fridays. https://www.southbucksmidweekcycling.org/

We also have a Strava Club group where you can see where others are riding, find possible riding companions and get ideas for your own rides. If you are competitive you can see who is fastest up local hills! We also offer advice on route planning and navigation aids like GPS.

Get involved!

As a club we encourage members to help in it’s running with ideas and feedback, leading rides, or planning occasional social events and cycle breaks. We also need people on the committee with enthusiasm and ideas You can get as involved as little or as much as you want!
