Sunset Ride: 13th August to the South Downs Way

Local Group Event

Event description

On Thursday 13th August we're leaving promptly at 6.30 pm from Preston Park station (eastern side).

We will head north then east past the Chattri memorial and the South Downs Way. This is a 26 km (16 mile) circular ride, finishing at Preston Park station.

Chase the golden hour on two wheels. Join us for short, social sunset rides through quiet roads, South Downs National Park, coast paths and the rolling hills around Brighton, the perfect way to unwind after work, enjoy the long summer evenings, and explore some of the most beautiful natural trails on our doorstep: small groups, easy loops, good company.

Please note: All our rides are weather-dependent. If the weather looks bad, the ride will be cancelled! If there are weather alerts for the evening, respond appropriately to heatwave information. Always bring plenty of water to drink when the weather is hot.

If you plan to come on any of our rides, please make sure your cycle is in a roadworthy condition. Bring a puncture repair kit, a spare inner tube (or, for tubeless tyres as appropriate), essential tools, a mobile phone if you have one, snacks, enough to drink, and sunscreen/waterproofs/warm clothing as appropriate. Don't forget your lights if you expect to be out in the hours of darkness. Please follow Cycling UK guidance and the Highway Code.

Check with us about the distance and the ride's hilliness if you are unsure.
Ideally, ride a hybrid - gravel bike.
