Ride to Lewes, Hassocks, Steyning, Shoreham and back to Brighton
Event description
On Sunday May 25th, we're meeting at 09.45 at the Pelicano Café on The Level, Brighton for a 10.00 departure. We're cycling to Lewes via the cycle track next to the A27. From Lewes we'll ride via Hamsey to Newick and then on to Hassocks for lunch at the Green Folk Kitchen (31 Keymer Road, Hassocks BN6 8AG) which is 30 miles.
After Hassocks we head west to Steyning and from there back to Brighton via Shoreham. Total 55/60 miles.
Anyone who would rather not do the full distance can take the train back from Hassocks to Brighton; or ride back on the more direct route next to the A23, picking up Sustrans National Cycle Route 20 at Pyecombe.
If you plan to come on any of our rides, please make sure your cycle is in a roadworthy condition. Bring a puncture repair kit, spare inner tube (or as appropriate for tubeless tyres), essential tools, a mobile phone if you have one, snacks and enough to drink, sunscreen/waterproofs/warm clothing as appropriate. Please follow Cycling UK guidance, and check with the ride leader about the distance and hilliness of the ride if you are unsure. See contact details below. Please be prepared to give contact phone numbers at the start of a ride. Let the ride leader know if you have a medical condition that might affect your ride.
