Ride for Fair Access: Liverpool to Merseyrail
Event description
Join Cycling UK, Merseyside Cycling Campaign, local cycling groups and supporters from across the Liverpool City Region and surrounding areas for a ride highlighting the impact of Merseyrail's ban on no-folding e-bikes.
We'll meet outside the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority offices, where the Liverpool City Region Transport Committee will be meeting that afternoon. This is an important opportunity to show decision-makers the strength of feeling among those affected by the proposed changes.
At the meeting point, you'll have a chance to meet fellow supporters and hear from Steve Brooks, External Affairs Director at Cycling UK, who will speak about why this issue matters and the growing concern from people who rely on bikes and e-bikes for everyday travel.
Following the speech, we'll ride together through Liverpool city centre to Merseyrail's headquarters, where we'll hand over a document summarising more than 100 personal case studies from people who will be affected by these changes. These stories demonstrate the real-world impact the restrictions will have on commuters, disabled cyclists, families and people who depend on cycling as part of their daily journeys.
This will be a peaceful, positive ride showing support for accessible, sustainable transport and ensuring decision-makers hear directly from the people affected.
You don't need to register to take part and can simply turn up on the day. However, to help us plan, we'd appreciate knowing how many people are attending. If you expect to join us, please email [email protected] to let us know.
