Peterborough Green Wheel CANCELLED
There appears to be little appetite for the ride on Sunday. Having checked the Peterborough radar again it appears the heavy rain will continue through the morning. More importantly the wind will freshen as the day goes on making the long fenland stretches scheduled for the afternoon very uncomfortable.
I am, very regrettably CANCELLING this years Green Wheel ride. Sorry.
Update on Green Wheel.
I have been watching the forecast all week. There will very heavy rain Saturday and over night into Sunday morning. It should have cleared by 10.00 am. I have therefore rerouted the ride to avoid off road sections which will make it slightly shorter and bit less interesting.
A longer Sunday ride organised and led by our Chair and becoming a yearly Event! It will be approximately 54 miles.
This years car assisted ride (Peterborough Green Wheel) begins and ends at:
Premier Inn car park, Norman Cross PE7 3TB Junction 16 of the A1
Leaving from car park at 09.30, arriving back at car park before it gets dark
Approximately 54mls, some off road but mostly good cycle track and country lanes.
This years route takes the outer rim of the wheel and includes the villages of Farcet, Thorney, Croyland, the Deepings
Helpston, Ailsworth, Castor and of course Nene Park.
Morning coffee at Flag Fen Archeological Centre
Lunch at The Old Paper Shop Croyland
Afternoon tea at the Coffee House Castor.
Collect at car park and make our way home.
Look forward to seeing you all.
