The Bowland Double Cross

15 August 2026
Sportive/Challenge Ride

Event description

A lumpy tour of Bowland crossing your own path twice - make sure you take the correct turn!

From Caton ride over the Trough of Bowland then Waddington Fell and cross the shoulder of Pendle Hill to Colne. From there turn for Ribchester, climb Jeffrey Hill to Chipping before the first crossing of your route near Newton in Bowland. Pass thru Gisburn Forest onto Ribbleshead Viaduct then turn for to Settle. Back to Caton from here and the second crossing of your route at Keasden. Apart from short sections thru Colne and Settle the route is along quiet roads with limited opportunity for refreshments and there is plenty of climbing.

The start is from a free car park with a cafe near Caton (toilets are not free though so bring change!). Controls are either via eBrevet or commercial/info and there will be a postal/upoad finish. Event badge included in entry price

Caton is just 8km from Lancaster which is situated on the West Coast Mainline and adjacent to the M6 motorway. There are a number of budget hotels in the area.
