Event description


A Macclesfield canal themed ride without using tow paths. The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct visted on the Chirk 200km is a UNESCO world Heritage site. The Bollington Aqueduct is a unique grade 2 listed structure. 

Starting from Poynton Church Hall where you’ll be welcomed with a cup of tea or coffee.
The early part of the ride heads towards Bollington Aqueduct. It has a stone rather than an earth core and is unique on British canals. The rock core enables an impressive  steep sided profile of 1:1.
At Gurnet the ride passes where canal pioneer James Brindley serverd his apprenticeship.
The Marton control at 31km has a choice two cafes. We then head back to Poynton with an info control just before finish.
There will be a warm reception waiting for you at the finish along with hot drinks & food.
