Online Cycle Commuter Workshops for Bike Week
Be a part of the hundreds of new cycle commuters giving cycling to work a try post-lockdown. With these taster sessions you'll feel confident, safe and prepared to give it a go. During the sessions our instructors will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns you have along the way.
Bike Week aims to show how simple and life-changing making the switch to cycling can really be. Not only will you see fantastic improvements to your health and wellbeing but you'll be helping to reduce the UK’s carbon footprint.
Delivered live, these sessions aim to give support and advice to those planning to pedal back to the office. You can sign up to one or all four, depending on what you are looking to learn. Here is what you can expect:
Session 1: Road positioning – the expert guide for cyclists of all experiences
Clinging to the pavement? Hanging too close to the curb? In this session you'll learn how far from the edge you should really go as well as top tips for cycling on the road.
Delivered by Cycling UK’s experienced instructors, you can expect best practice advice for cycling on the road through examples, demonstrations and short presentations.
The aim of the session is to give attendees attendees more confidence when cycling on the road to work.
Session 2: Basic bike maintenance
Puncture? No problem! Our team of experienced instructors will give you practical advice and training for basic bike maintenance and repairs.
You can expect practical examples, demonstrations and short presentations.
The aim of the session is to give attendees more confidence when carrying out small repairs on route to work and beyond.
Session 3: Route planning for your cycle to work
With so many route options available for cyclists it can be hard to know which provide the best result for your needs.
Whether you're looking for a route using the roads, or off-road route to work, our experienced instructors will give hints and tips to help you get to work easily and on-time.
The aim of the session is to give attendees the confidence to navigate their way to work by bike successfully.
Session 4: What equipment do you need to cycle to work?
From lights to panniers there, is a whole range of equipment out there to support your cycle to work, but what is nice to have and what is essential? Our experts will run through all the equipment you need to make your ride to work as comfortable as possible.
All sessions will go through practical examples, demonstrations and short presentations.
The aim of the session is for attendees to feel comfortable and prepared for cycling to work.
After all of the sessions, there will be an opportunity to ask questions to the instructors. We’ll also provide details on how you can access further courses and training with Cycling UK.

Bike Week
Delivered by Cycling UK, Bike Week is the UK’s largest awareness raising week for cycling. From Sunday 30 May – Saturday 5 June, head out on your bike and celebrate just how brilliant it can be.
Be sure to share cycling photos online using #7daysofcycling and log your ride on the Bike Week website for a chance to win some fantastic prizes.
It is our mission to show just how simple and life-changing cycling can be when you make the switch and cycle more for everyday journeys.
