Kerena Fussell is part of Cycling UK's 100 Women in Cycling 2018 list for her grassroots work in the London borough of Newham.

Kerena Fussell has been a joint co-ordinator of Newham LCC for four years, giving her time and energy to keep the borough cycling. She organises the monthly meetings and leading kids rides. She also co-ordinates a monthly donation-based community Fix Your Ride stall, which provides basic bike maintenance and tuition, enabling local people who might not be able to afford to take their bikes to a shop for repair, and giving women the confidence they need to deal with problems as they occur.

Kerena’s favourite is working with the local WI group, encouraging older women back onto their bikes – or perhaps onto bikes for the first time – by doing gentle themed rides.

Kerena’s nomination reads, “Kerena is a quiet hero in this part of the world. She won't blow her own trumpet, though - in a recent celebration of women in the borough she compiled an article for the local insert of the LCC magazine, but forgot to mention herself!”

Cycling UK’s 100 Women in Cycling is an annual list celebrating inspirational women who are encouraging others to take part in this wonderful and life-enhancing activity.
