Hundreds of CTC members who volunteered to marshal and staff the largest 'Dr Bike' service EVER over the Prudential RideLondon weekend in August, deserve an extra pat on the back after the event won national recognition.

Prudential  RideLondon proudly pedalled away from the UK Events Awards with two major wins: the Sports Event of the Year category and the Large Event of the Year category.

CTC is also pleased to announce the contribution of volunteers has helped secure CTC’s involvement in the 2014 Prudential RideLondon.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for everyone involved with Prudential RideLondon to win the double at the UK Event Awards, cementing its reputation as one of the greatest cycling events anywhere in the world.”

The event has already been awarded the 2013 Cyclosport Industry Award, given for an outstanding contribution to the cycling industry.

Nearly 70,000 cyclists took to the streets of London and Surrey over the weekend of 3-4 August and enjoyed four different events including a fun ride for all the family, which attracted 50,000 cyclists, a mass-participation 100 mile-ride and professional criterium and road races. More than 180,000 spectators watched the events.

The CTC 'Dr Bike' volunteers at St Paul's Tower Hill and Green Park helped 2,000 cyclists in just one day in London. It was a remarkable team effort.
