Award-winning CTC members celebrate success

Lynda Barrow receives her award from Fuzz Edwards
How do you get new people to join your cycling club? Want to say thank you to the volunteers who help keep your cycling club on track? Why not give them an award?

At this time of year, hundreds of CTC groups and over 600 hundred affiliated clubs are holding Christmas parties and award ceremonies. The awards are the chance to highlight the amazing work CTC members do to encourage cycling and support cyclists in their local areas.

South West London CTC wanted to thank one of their keenest and most enthusiastic members, who has encouraged many people to get back on their bikes. Lynda Barrow was presented the Outstanding Achievement Award for her work bringing in new riders to the group. Lynda leads the weekly Wednesday beginner rides and encourages many people to keep going in all weathers. She was nominated by long-term member 'Fuzz' Edwards.

Lynda's commitment to the group is outstanding and she is very welcoming and friendly to new people.  No one is left behind on her rides."

Meanwhile, in Yorkshire, over 50 members of East Yorkshire CTC celebrated Christmas at a dinner in Melton. John Osgerby was awarded a Certificate of Merit for his services as membership secretary of the group (formally known as Hull and East Riding CTC). John volunteered as Secretary for more than 30 years. The group is now preparing for its 90th anniversary in 2015.
