Farnham U3A Cycle Club
FARNHAM U3A CYCLE CLUB is based in Farnham in Surrey and aims to give all cyclists an opportunity to ride and socialise in a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere. We started in 2013 as a University of the Third Age (U3A) group and more recently have affiliated with the charity Cycling UK.
We usually cycle on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month and the following Thursday. There are 3 groups to choose from:
Wednesday EASY ROCKERS Ride
An easy-paced 15-20 miles mainly on quiet roads, cycle tracks, canal paths and bridleways avoiding hills where possible.
Wednesday MODS Ride
A quicker paced 20-30 miles, mostly on road, with some up-hill sections.
The Easy Rockers and the Mods groups usually start from Farnham Maltings but in summer we may start at other locations or go for slightly longer rides. Both groups will always stop for refreshments somewhere on the route.
Thursday SMILES Ride
This ride is to gain or regain confidence on your bike. Usually a short ride up to about 10 miles at a leisurely pace with a coffee and cake stop.
If you are joining us on any of these rides, we ask that your bike is well-maintained and that you carry a spare inner tube of the correct size for your bike's tyres. We do not insist on you wearing a cycle helmet - but most riders do wear one.
Riders with eBikes (battery assist bikes) are very welcome to join us.
We are thinking of running another ride all off-road. Watch this space...
