About us
The Project Colt Community Cycling Club is aimed at promoting active lifestyle opportunities to our local community.
We facilitate guided group rides twice a week currently Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings
We also have our very own bicycle repair workshop on-site called The Rusty Bike Shed where we can service and repair customer bikes and a large range of donated bikes that we fix up and sell to support Project Colt.
From this workshop we also run maintenance classes and volunteering opportunities to the local community.
All our rides are free to attend and are bookable via https://www.eventbrite.com/o/104361444951?aff=ebdsshandroid
So follow The Rusty Bike Shed on Facebook and Eventbrite to see our active offerings.
Information about the group rides
Our Tuesday evening ride is our any bike any ability short distance ride aimed at introducing new/returning cyclists to the joys of a supportive inclusive group ride on a mix of quite roads and canal paths with limited fitness required. Distances vary depending on attendees wishes but we tend not to go further than 13 miles during the winter months.
Our Saturday rides are aimed more at the confident road type bike riders who like to ride that bit further and want the company of other riders. Being based in Calderdale road riding longer distances will include hills but its not a race and ups are always followed by those lovely long downs. Distances range from 20 to 45 miles depending on attendees wishes on the day.
Both rides are guided by our trained ride leaders and our rides are very much about enjoying the physical and mental health benefits of cycling and socialising. We measure our rides in smiles not miles so please join us and feel the benefits of cycling in our group for yourself.
We do have some cycling kit available to loan out including, bikes, helmets, jackets/high vis vests and lights. These items aren't infinite so please do give us plenty of notice if any items are required for your attendance.
Both Tuesday and Saturday rides start and finish at Project Colt which is just off Elland Bridge in Bridgefield Mills HX50SQ
On Saturday the fantastic Rustys Coffee Club cafe is open at our start and finish point for that all important pre ride brew and breakfast or post ride coffee and cake fix.
Secure bike storage is also available on site.
