Cycling UK Louth Wednesday Wander to South Ormsby 9th July 2025:

Thanks to Alan Hockham for devising today’s route and with some fine weather, joining Alan at Louth’s Meridian Leisure Centre were Paul Linder, Ty Harness, Martin Wood and Tim Newbery.

A cloudy start to the day but it was expected to remain dry, temperatures rising to a warm 25 Degrees Celsius. Before leaving we were engaged in conversation with a former school teacher of Ty’s, trying her best to enrol us into Ballroom Dancing. Paul seemed most knowledgeable in the dance styles and principal dances of the genre.

Setting off at about 10.15 am following on from some technical hitches, we’d head out to Kenwick Bar for the route past Cadwell Park. A number of visitors were arriving for their ‘General Track Day’ where you can take your own car for a spin around the circuit.
Onwards through Tathwell where Ty’s worked professionally and then up to the Bluestone Heath Road.

Continuing past Rowgate Hill, Rosin Hill, Belchford Hill, Tetford Hill and Dog Hill (yes, a lot of hills!), we’d finally welcome a fast descent to South Ormsby and the Walkers’ and Cyclists’ Hut at the Sheep Dip Paddock. Complimentary hot drinks were once again enjoyed. Ty was hoping to purchase some flour and Tim some eggs but sadly not available today. We would however meet up with Andy Wharfe who’d pedalled across from Lincoln (Andy often partakes in a ride to the coast) and it was good to have had a chat and catch up.

Martin would leave early as he had duties to perform in Louth, Tim needed to return for a hospital appointment and Paul would also head for home after opting to carry on to Aby. That would leave Alan and Ty to take lunch at Cafe@Mimi's, Manby. Here’s hoping all enjoyed a fine day out.
